Jo
Sonja's Metallic & Iridescent Colors
Iridescents
These beautiful
micaceous-based colors are for artists who wish to add a touch of
glamour or glitter to a piece, such as the translucent glow of an
angel's wings, a butterfly, a fish or the brilliant iridescent shimmer
on a mallard drake's neck. Simply mix the iridescent colors directly
into your paints or apply after decorating to highlight specific
areas. The choice is yours.
Since the iridescent
colors are translucent, they are primarily used as an accent for
highlighting. they randomly refract light to produce a variety of
shimmering colors as you move around a painted piece. They are a
beautiful addition to faux finishes and show up best when painted
over darker backgrounds. Iridescent colors are essential to capture
the natural beauty of many birds, fish and wildfowl. Mix directly
into your colors or apply as light washes over painted surfaces.
Iridescent Blue,
Iridescent Green, Iridescent Gold, Iridescent Red, Iridescent Violet,
Iridescent Turquoise - available in 2 oz bottles.
*Helpful Hints:
*Iridescent colors are sometimes difficult to distinguish from one
another since they appear from the tube looking similar (milky-white
in color when wet). it's only after they are applied and begin to
dry that you really notice the wonderful iridescent shimmer of these
colors. A simple way of keeping track of which iridescent colors
you are using is to place each iridescent color next to a similarly
pigmented color. For example, place Iridescent Blue next to Pthalo
Blue on your wet palette. This will eliminate any confusion when
you are painting and you can easily reference which iridescent colors
you are using.
Pearl
White
Pearl White
is also available. It will impart a slight iridescent quality to
other Jo Sonja's Artists' Colors. Pearl White is a delicate, soft
background color, and usually required 2 to 3 coats. It can also
be mixed directly into your paints to impart a pearlescent look
to a color. Available in a 2 ½ oz. Tube.
Metallic
Colors
There are 4
brilliant metallic colors that give the artist a number of creative
applications. The metallic colors are used to achieve dramatic effects
in stenciling, color bands, highlighting, liner work, bronzing,
verdigris and faux finishes. The metallic colors are compatible
with all Jo Sonja's mediums. Sometimes, however, the metallics don't
crackle as easily. It is better to crackle the background first,
then carefully dry-brush the desired metallic colors over the top.
The metallic colors can be easily mixed with all Jo Sonja's Artists'
Colors to create iridescent effects.
Copper, Pale
Gold, Rich Gold, Silver, Rose Gold - Available in 2 ½ oz tubes.
*Helpful Hint:
*Washes of Pale Gold metallic can be used to provide a luminous
yellow iridescent glow to your piece.
